Psalm 62:1,2,5,6
1 Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.
2 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be greatly moved.
5 My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
Notice the difference between verse 1 and verse 5….
In verse 1 ‘waiting’ is a description… in verse 5 ‘waiting’ is a command.
King David is the writer of the Psalm. What do you think he had learned?
Have you ever heard anyone say, “I’m just tired of talking about it!”(?) There are times we may just run out of words to say because we’re just weary of talking about ‘it.’ And we might describe ourselves as ‘waiting silently.’
But I believe there will come maturity in our life when our ‘waiting in silence’ is not just because we’ve exhausted ourselves talking about ‘it,’ but rather our waiting in silence is something we ‘command’ our ‘soul’ to do… because we’re waiting to hear the words we need to speak FROM HIM!
I will say to my soul… to my emotions… “Wait… be still… be silent… wait!” And in that moment we will find our ‘Rock,’ … and we shall not be moved!
Don’t give in… Don’t let go!
