Haven't been on this site in a while. Am glad I looked at it tonight. My daughter, Ana, will be 15 in Aug. She has committed to herself, the Lord, me, and a good friend of hers to remain pure until married. She purchased a purity ring, and it has become quite the witnessing piece at school. Students/friends will ask about the ring (it looks like an engagement ring). When she answers them, she is giggled at and told, "Oh, how sweet. Hope it works for you" (insert condescending tone). She answers back, "It will because it's my choice, and if a boy wants from me at this age, then he can move on." That being said. She has had the opportunity to minister to one of the girls who initially mocked and laughed at her and her ring. This girl has lived a very troubled life which has included multiple partners at 14 yrs old. Due to the friendship she and Ana have struck, my daughter has been able to encourage her friend and let her know the worth she has. About a month ago this friend asked Ana if she would be able to live a life like Ana. She stated she wanted to change her life because she has seen how Ana stands up for what she believes in and doesn't let anyone pressure her. She also stated she wanted to be "clean" again, and she regrets "doing things with boys." She also asked Ana many questions about the Lord; the most poignant, "Would God accept now even though I have had sex?" Ana told her, "Of course, and they chatted for a very long time about Him." So all this to say, I am so thankful you took on this teaching Pastor Tom. I can now send Ana to the site to gain Scripture knowledge, and she will be able to show her friends what the bible says about renewal.
As always, thanks.

So, I have been contemplating the insight about judgment. As I pondered, I began to ask myself where this spirit of assignment comes from. As I talked with the Lord, I sensed Him tell me, "Pride."
Pastor Tom, could it be said that pride and assignment (judgment) go together? Meaning, as human beings, we assign judgment due to our pride in needing to be declared right?

Just love this stuff. I am one who has been priviledged to have Pastor Tom as a person who speaks into my life, through devotions; email; or vocal, for quite some time. I have never forgotten his message on this very topic many years ago when he and his family were here in Fort Myers, FL. I work in a secular setting with college students. Students whose identities are confused, and at times antagonistic toward one who has faith in Jesus. I often remember this message when students ask basic life questions. Or make statements that make me want to rear back and say, "Look buddy, or buddette, you have it all wrong!" However, in doing so it only reinforces within their minds that they are right about believers in Christ. That such people are hypocrits who judge. I have always struggled with judgment, but with posts like this reminding me it gets easier and easier everyday to see that truth is meant to love and care for not harm and be declared right. Judging does not mean making a person feel wrong, low, defeated, or crushed. It means, loving, caring, showing, and encouraging. I now find myself when in such a situation of assessment asking the Lord, quietly in my heart, what needs to be addressed here, Lord. What do YOU want them to know?
Blessings,
Kim

People always say " well we always have hope" It's like an after thought after trying everything we can in the natural to fix something/someone. We say things like ALL we can do is pray and HOPE, like it has no subtance till it's the last resort. The more of Gods people I encounter, the more "I have need of endurance" just sayin... Come on God's People... WE HAVE HOPE > ITS A REAL SUBTANCE!

This is an amazing tribute. I only know one person like that in my world and she's amazing. As the mother of three Marines I've been reaquainted with the warrior mentality that I'd observed as a military brat growing up on various installations in Europe.

God has revealed to me that there are things I've left undone, said, etc. I am making an effort to no longer let that be the case. It's so difficult to break away from the habit of living according to fear when it's all you've ever known. It's quite the challenge to do things I've never done before in that freedom. It's like wearing armor when all you've ever worn is slave rags. It's a different fit that takes getting used to. Remembering you have weapons to use that weren't part of the slave garb also takes getting used to.

The new perspective is a refreshing way to see life and it's invigorating, too. It's great to feel truly alive and the joy that goes with it. This tribute to your friend is a kind of confirmation for me. I'm so glad you shared it here. =D

Pastor... thanks for the encouragement. I wanted to share with you the part of this text that thrills my soul. In vs. 1, "a very present Help..." Surely, our God is "a very present Help." The literal understanding here is that He is accessible; He is at hand. We don't have to search for Him, He is here in the midst of our lives. He is at hand, ever-ready, always present.

This passage is "realized" in The Prophecy of Azariah, (II Chronicles 15.1-7) But take note of the word in vs. 4. "But in their distress they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and they sought Him, AND HE LET THEM FIND HIM."
